The Cure

Bad Vibes May 25, 2016 set list

On May 25 I was on Bad Vibes on CFRO (you can listen to it here.) Marc Godfrey and I were picking from a list of music that I brought with me depending on how the conversation went. I came armed with almost three hours of music for a one hour interview, with everything picked for a reason. This is the fourth in a series of posts where I run through those choices, including the ones that we didn't get to, and talk about why I picked them.

In this post I'll cover the rest of the the Cure songs played and not played. But before I get started, I have one question. Is anyone reading these. Seriously. Comment here, like, +1 or comment on one of the automatic reposts, anything, because I really don't know what the fuck I am doing any of this (or anything at all) for.

Bad Vibes Radio Set List from May 27

Bad Vibes set list

Last week I was on Bad Vibes on CFRO. This is the set-list from that show. My bit starts with The Vampire Club by Voltaire, and you can listen to it here. From that point on Marc Godfrey and I were picking from a list of music that I brought with me depending on how the conversation went. I came armed with almost three hours of music for a one hour interview, with everything picked for a reason. What I want to do for the next little while is run through those choices, including the ones that we didn't get to, and talk about why I picked them.

So let's start with The Vampire Club.

"Vancouver's Gothic Vibe" in The Province today

Nancy Amenti is a Vancouver fashion designer and goth who loves cemeteries. ‘They’re gorgeous,’ she says. ‘They’re a great place to have a picnic.’

Vancouver’s gothic vibe: The city is perfect for dark, haunting movies and TV series

For a few hours next Sunday, Vancouver will be home to the world’s blackest beach.

Upcoming Province Article

This morning I had a little photoshoot, where I was the subject not the photographer, over by Holy Rosary Cathedral on Richards Street. It is for an upcoming article in The Province related to the "Gothic Migrations" 12th Biennial Conference of the International Gothic Association. The International Gothic Association is out of Lancaster University and devoted the academic study of the Gothic founded in, but extending well beyond, the Gothic sub-genre of 19th C.

Decemberwe'en

It's December now and the Santa Claus parade has just marched by this ancient brickpile we call home. Valerian has suggested the idea of a Gothic BC float next year playing this:
