As of today, November 1, 2018, Gothic BC had been on the web for 20 years. Below are some words from some of the promoters that have made this possible my keeping the scene alive...
Don't forget to tune your radio receiving devices to 100.5 MHz on the frequency modulated (FM) band today at 3:30 to listen to me tell stories of the glorious past like a goth Grandpa Simpson.
Haven't done a site update for few months. I've kind of forgotten some of the things I have fixed. There have been tweaks to the automatic feeds out to social media. I've fixed up the inactive user maintenance and added some additional hoops to trip up spambots and some other back-end stuff that probably only I ever noticed anyway.
You can now do a single-click login from Facebook on Gothic BC. If you have and existing account, you should log in normally first and make sure that the e-mail you have registered for Gothic BC is the same as the one you used to register for facebook.
I am curious, what does Gothic BC mean to you? Has this little project of mine had a positive effect on your life? Does it matter you? Tell me your story.
You may have noticed I haven't been out and about as much for a while now. There have been a few personal things that have undermined my motivation and I'm looking to you all to help me get inspired again. Has my absence been felt?
While I've done some fun promos before, like one for the Royal Winnipeg Ballet production of Dracula and the Vancouver movie premier of Sweeney Todd I think this might be Gothic BC's first concert-ticket giveaway, which makes it kind of exciting...
Right now the Latest Photos RSS Feed is picking up older photos an in turn feeding these out to our Google+ and Facebook pages. While this is an unexpected glitch from something really great and long overdue that I started working on, I'm not going to be doing anything about it. I'm looking at it as a "happy accident" à la Bob Ross... enjoy the retrospective!
Originally I started taking pictures at the clubs in order to have source images for drawings and paintings. I let myself drift away from that and the photography became a thing of its own. Nothing wrong with that, really, but there remains something more satisfying about one hand-drawn image that 10,000 digital pictures can't touch.
This Hallowe'en season the Gothic BC photo booth will be at two events: The Glamour Trash Hallow'en Ball at Hindenburg (formerly Club 23 West) Hallowe'en night and Sin City at Imperial on November 1st.
This Sin City will mark the end of the Gothic BC photo booth with prints available on the spot.
