The BC economy is about to get worse with a 7% tax increase. Effective July 2010 that's basically what the new HST will be. Currently 7% PST is not charged on all products and services, but 5% GST is. The HST will replace both taxes as a combined 12% rate and be charged on essentially everything from food and haircuts to funerals, airline tickets and heating bills.
