Valerian and I just got back from the show and I was very impressed with Collide. It was well worth braving the snow and the Richard's on Richard's *ahem* less-than-efficient door staff. I'm not big on reviews, suffice to say I am very glad Isaac brought them in, and I am glad I went.
Expect a vew dozen pictures in the photogallery within the next day or two.

Touring in support of their fifth album, Collide has had some very special guests that lent their talents to their most recent release, Vortex, including Charlie Clouser (Nine Inch Nails), Rhys Fulber (Conjure One/Delerium/Front Line Assembly), Mark Walk (producer of Skinny Puppy/Ruby) and Mike Fisher (Machines of Loving Grace/Amish Rake Fight.

Collide
The primary core of Collide is Statik and kaRIN. Statik is responsible for all of the sound orchestrations and overall production. kaRIN takes care of the vocals and words. Presently, they live and record in Los Angeles.
The two members of Collide met at an industrial club in L.A., became friends, and later formed the band in 1993. The name Collide was chosen as it seemed to represent the clashing and melding of styles into a powerful whole, the coming together of two different entities.
Although kaRIN & Statik are the core of the sound, they also like to work with other guest musicians and like to incorporate as many other influences as they can. With a wide range of sounds, these guest artists to date have included people like Chris Candelaria, also of Drumatic, William Faith and Monica Richards of Faith and the Muse, and Kevin Kipnis of Purr Machine to name a few.

Well rooted in the music industry, Statik's programming talents have been sought out by many artists in the music industry. These artists include Prince, Tool, Machines of Loving Grace, Love and Rockets, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Powerman 5000, to name a few. He has also done re-mixes for bands like Frontline Assembly.
Currently he is also involved in the re-formation of Skinny Puppy.
kaRIN, has done guest vocal work for cEvin Key's side project PlatEAU, as well contributing vocals to the remix of Frontline Assembly.
Synthetic Minister
Synthetic Minister introduced itself onto the Vancouver music scene in late 2000 with the release of the independently produced, CD entitled, "Behind the Veil." Fully created by the band's frontman Steven Nikolic, the CD was essentially a hint as to what Synthetic Minister aims to present to music-listeners. With an irreverent dismissal of categories, labels or particular allegiances of any kind, the album rapidly attracted undergound interest both in the Vancouver music scene, and underground music scenes across the world. When 2001 rolled around Synthetic Minister was given the chance to show people what it was all about when the band played a series of shows in local clubs/halls. The shows gradually expanded in scope and stature due to growing awareness of the CD and, most notably, the band's reputation for rather visceral, chaotic and emotional sets. Enigmatically, just as the band was obtaining its greatest notoriety to date, Steven decided to temporarily put the live band on hold in order to produce the
next Synthetic Minister album, tentatively titled, "Existential Evolution." While in almost complete seclusion for the next year and a half, Steven wrote and recorded the entirety of the album he had privately envisioned for over 5 years. With the much-touted "Existential Evolution," now released Synthetic Minister embarks on a new era in its development as a band - standing behind its core philosophy with greater passion than ever before.
