Applying make up

Greetings! -^_^-

This might be a silly question, but I was wondering if anyone knows where I can learn how to properly put on make up.

Sometimes cosmetics stores will give u a quick free lesson/makeover session. The catch is that you have to spend a certain amount of money at the store first (i.e. $50 at MAC), which is not very hard in terms of makeup. Especially some of the higher quality brands, or natural mineral makeup, that's in reality better for your skin anyway.

just play with it! that's the best way. Look for tips and pics online. Or go to MAC and ask them to recommend stuff - just describe the kind of look you want and tell them you don't know what to use. They love guinea pigs.:) Just go when they're not too busy (and boys are welcome, I'm sure). Their website is good too - click on Looks and they show you how to use their different products to create different looks.

The MAC corner at the Bay downtown has a few gothy-types on staff, as does the MAC store on Robson. And remember the basic goth faux pas:

  • Pale is great but whiteface makes you look like a clown
  • Your face does not end at your jawline
  • Never put makeup over hair, especially facial hair (only one exception ever in the history of mankind: Cesar Romero as the Joker in the old Batman series)
  • Eyeliner doodles on half your face - NO! NEVER!
  • Black lipstick is next to imposible to do well. It's not a realm for beginners.
  • Theatre-mask "Crow" make-up will get you openly mocked. Seriously. By me.
