Hey, my name is Michael and I have been hitting Goth nights in Vancouver for years; however, I have never really tried to "infiltrate" the community before.  I do not really dress goth, and keep to myself at events like Sanctuary Sundays...that's right I am one of those guys who LOVES goth music and the scene, and yet sits there in jeans standing out like a sore thumb ha ha.  Anyway, the basic intro is I am an orchestral composer/Classical Guitarist.  I studied much in the Bachelor of Music program at UBC and do mostly indie film music and some other media...as well as the occassional concert piece.  I never give Guitar recitals anymore, though, as they were kind of hell.  My main passions are music theory and orchestration, as well as the usual things everyone lists.

Hmmmm, can't imagine what else would be of any interest.  I mostly do music editing for television to pay the bills, just recently finished working on some episodes of Kink and a made for TV movie called Elijah.

Bascially, love the music (Dj Pandemonium rules!)_ and the scene, and just want to know more about what is going on, so I can wear blue jeans and get drunk in the corner ha ha.

I have to add, I am amazed by this genera of music....it uses tone color and timbre to organise it's structures in the stead of the harmony and melody of the past...many popular generas do this...but no style more so than Goth/industrial.  I have heard entire peices that are nothing but texture and variations of that texture...remarkable.

K...this post is too long...so I am done.  Thank to anyone who says hi, and thanks to all who organise these events...they keep me sane.

Michael
