I just got back from the Siouxsie show at the Commodore. Despite the fact that things got started waaaay late (doors at 8:00, but the show didn't start until after 11:00) it was worth the wait. Despite standing and waiting for three hours the crowd was appreciative enough to get a second encore. Siouxise was charming and Budgie was a ham.
I'm going to be an utter zombie at work tomorrow... I was already feeling rotten enough to have called in sick today, but Valerian and I bought our tickets months ago and dragged out sorry, old butts out anyway. The only reason I'm even still up to post this is to down a cup of hot cold-medicine.
It was Siouxsie that "turned" me. Back in 1977/78 I was all about punk. I read about Siouxsie and what was being called "gloom punk" in a fanzine and picked up a copy of "The Scream" in 1979. I still have that record (vinyl, of course). Another "old bat" sitting with Valerian and I made a comment about it being nice seeing all the baby-bats out for some good music and I quipped back, "I was just thinking, 'I have Siouxsie records older than those girls'."
OK. I'm rambling like Grandpa Simpson now. The cold medicine is kicking in. Time for bed...

I didn't even know she was playing. Guess I was too busy with my moving and setting up shop and all. [color=red](Thats no excuse!) As an odd coincidence, Ive just spent the last few days with Siouxsie in my car stereo. (Not many clear radio stations around here.) I havent pulled that one out in over three years. Thats kind of spooky. :o

I had Siouxsie & Nina Hagen to thank as female role models when I was a teen, so there's a special place in my heart for those ladies. Siouxsie was as lovely as ever last night and I'm glad I got to see her again. I discovered that the last couple of shows she's done on this tour got to a very late start - I don't what the deal is with that. Her voice was a bit strained at times (throat problems), but that didn't make the show any less fantastic. I'm glad she played at the Commodore - it's such a great venue, because it's big but not-too-big, and no matter where you are you can see the stage quite well. If ever a band you like plays there, no matter what the ticket price, go see them.
OK, I'm going to go back to hurting now and have another hot lemon drink. Ugh.
