Among other disasters that have recently plagued me, my two lovely fans have broken. So now I need replacements[that won't cost and arm and a leg] and there for advice on where to find them. Alternatively, any one have suggestions on replacing the little pin that holds the fan together? I can't seem to find screws or bolts or wires that are the right thickness.
There's a shop on West Hastings, almost next door to Dressew (337 West Hastings) that sells all sorts of Asian imports. Last I looked they had peacock, maribou, lace and paper fans in various sizes. Prices weren't too bad either.

As odd as this may sound... Have you considered using a "pop-rivet"? You need a special tool to use them (a pop rivet gun), but you should be able to pick them up at any hardware store. I used to sell them when I worked at crappy tire. They come in different sizes, and once "popped" should be about the right length. It might be worth looking into.
