You guys and gals are going to hate me for saying this but goth just like new wave and punk music is becoming the latest trend, why would you think goth is safe from going commercial ::). The bad news is anyone who wears black and alot of eye liner will consider themselves goth. The good news is that if you are goth, people won't want to beat you up because you look different. My point is everything is going to be mainsteam eventually and it sucks. They wouldn't even play the band New Order on the radio for the longest time because it was to diffierent, never mind Ministry or The Cure. I personaly don't mind MCR or AFI it's still better than Brittney Spears or Nsync.

my chemical romance
has anyway heard of my chemical romance if so what you think of them? :)
I have their CDs, and I enjoy their music. Coming from a musical background, I truly enjoy their music although their songwriting and performance is somewhat lacking. Their brand markets them very well as their target audience is the younger crowd.
I prefer A Fire Inside, although their latest CD is somewhat depressing to listening to. There are plenty of independent bands out there who have better lyrical style and onstage performances when compared to My Chemical Romance. I wouldn't really call them a "cookie cutter" band though, they've merely entered the mainstream market when there are so many bands out there that are producing songs that sound too similar to others.
And if you're not mass produced and force-fed to all the disillusioned teens of North America who "hate the preps" and need some quasi-dark pop-punk/emo/goth band to express their inner-most rebel.
And you aren't a 'poor little rich kid" or a man way past high school still singing about having your heart crushed by some gilr in school, cos thats just a little obsessive.
Sounds like Robert Smith. But I suppose it's more acceptable if you are among the first to do such things.

Besides, you're not what I would consider a "pretty boy", although you are rather fetching. ;D
I'm a pretty boy. :D
We just want to be loved like everyone else. *sniffle sniffle*
the boys wear thick black eyeliner and red eyeshadow and sing about how hard life is when you are a pretty boy that never goes outside to see the sun.

Yes, it is always important to remember to insult people with who listens to other bands than you do. Very goth.
So is sarcasm.
My little sister loves My Chemical Romance and PANIC! at the Disco and all those bands where all the boys wear thick black eyeliner and red eyeshadow and sing about how hard life is when you are a pretty boy that never goes outside to see the sun. I have no problem with feminine guys, or guys that wear makeup, but these bands are just as commercialized and manufactured as the Backstreet Boys, they are just aimed at the group of angsty, "punk"/emo/scene/"goth" kids rather than the bubbly/preppy/"normal" kids.
