Is anybody going? Has anybody been?

I've been toying with the idea of hitting up Kinetik 03 in Montreal in May. I've been running the numbers and I estimate my costs at around $1200-$1500 all in (airfare, tickets, hotel, food), depending on how many nights I go and where I stay, etc.

There are a few ways I might be able to cut costs (find a friend to stay with or couch surf, for example). But I'm wondering if anybody else has gone in previous years and has any travel tips or insight about the festival to share?
