Up until now the picture of the day has been completely random, excluding pictures that have already been selected. This has been changed somewhat. The year is completely random still, but the selection logic will try to find something on the same month and day as the current date, expanding the search out from there until it finds something that hasn't been selected before.

For example, today is October 9, but there are no past pictures from October 9th, so the eligible range automatically expanded to October 8-10, and a picture from October 8, 2006 was found.
