But that's not to say that you couldn't organize a meet-up for fellow members in your country/city. Just make a new topic in the "Events" forum.
Rather than rely on everyone remembering to contact you when an event is taking place, just check back to the "Events" forum periodically (click the "notify" button at the top right of the page to get replies sent to you via email) and see if there's an update. You can always ask the person/people organizing the meet-up to private message you when the details are solid.
