New on the island

Greetings all,

            As the subject suggests, I am new here.  Not just to the site, or the Island, but to the province as well.  I moved here from Toronto last month, and I've been going a little stir crazy of late.  I've yet to discover the happy stomping grounds of my peers, and finally stumbled across this site.  I'm going to check out the FAQ and such before I ask the standard boring questions (save us all some time and tedium), but I also thought it would be impolite if I didn't introduce myself before I started lurking around this strand of the web.  I know in my heart that there are people on this island who find joy in the darker side of things, and I hope to see you all soon.

Take a look at the clubbing forum and specifically at Radioaktive (Friday), Decades (Saturday) and Sanctuary (Sunday). Sanctuary always has outstanding Hallowe'en nights, and just happens to be on Hallowe'en this year.

Re: Electric Lettuce

I was just there last week (exploring Nanaimo's Hub).  It is on Commercial still, though I'm not sure of the exact address.  Down Island from Dizzy's.  As for being a great shop... It's ok.  Not a lot of fashion for guys.  Wonderful, beautiful things for girls, but for guys it's mostly band shirts.  I went to get a belt and a couple of tops (the belt I have is great on the hips of some pants, but lousy on the waist of my PVC pants) and the belts they had were either too pink (lots of pink belts) or too long.  The clerk said to check back later, that they may be getting more in stock.  I'm just as likely to visit the mainland for a couple of days and see what I can find, though I suppose I should be encouraging the local vendors to stock what I'd like. 

On another note, I may be coming to Vancouver for the Hallowe'en weekend (my brother lives there), and I was wondering what evening events might be going on at that time.  Any help would be appreciated.

Hey if you get into the store "Electric Lettuce" in Nanaimo (it's a *great* shop), please let us know if the address is the same as in the "Where To Find It - BC" thread in Shopping and Fashion.  I think they moved recently, but whether I have the old or the new address listed I'm not sure.  I haven't been to it since 2000.  Thanks in advance!  If you see any other cool things/events in the area, please let us know.

    I arrived in Qualicum Beach on August 6th, and I'll likely be staying here with family until I can find a job.  For those unfamiliar, QB is about 30min up island from Nanaimo.  I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the creator/administrators of this site.  With it I was able to find out about the clubs in Victoria, and more convenient (but more rare) the events in Nanaimo.  Also, thanks for the tips about ID.  Not that I get carded that much anymore, but it's still good to know.
